House Cleaning in Troutdale
Meadowlark Home Cleaning is a family-run company from right next door in Gresham. Jeremy, Marika, and their son Jonah clean every visit themselves, working from a written 50-point checklist, in the historic downtown and the subdivisions above the Sandy River alike.
Where the Gorge begins
Troutdale is where the Gorge begins. The Historic Columbia River Highway starts its run east right out of downtown, the Sandy River slides past the beach at Glenn Otto Park on its way to meet the Columbia, and the things people drive an hour for (waterfalls, trailheads, river swimming) sit just past the city limits. This is a rail town by birth, grown up where the Sandy meets the Columbia, and it still runs at a small-town scale even with half the metro rolling through toward Multnomah Falls. It's a real town, too. There's a walkable historic main street of antique shops and galleries. McMenamins Edgefield holds down 74 acres of the former 1911 county poor farm off Halsey, and the Columbia Gorge Outlets sit out by 257th.
Meadowlark Home Cleaning is a family-run company based next door in Gresham. We're Jeremy and Marika, and our son Jonah cleans alongside us. No franchise, no rotating crew: when you book with us, the three of us are the ones who show up, every visit. We built the company around a simple idea, that your home should get cleaned by people you know, against a written checklist you can read.
The east wind gets indoors
Ask anyone who's lived here through a fall windstorm: the east wind is not a rumor. Troutdale sits at the western mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, and when pressure builds east of the Cascades, mostly from late fall through winter, gap winds funnel straight out of the Gorge and hit this town first. Researchers studying the Gorge treat wind readings at Troutdale as the benchmark for how hard the outflow is running. Inside a house, all that wind shows up as grit. A fine layer lands on the window sills and tracks, and dust pushed through every gap in the weatherstripping films over flat surfaces faster here than it does a few miles west. Dusting in Troutdale is upkeep.
The housing brings its own list. Most of Troutdale went up after 1970, when the town grew into a bedroom community. Beaver Creek and Town Center filled with 1970s ranches and split-levels, then the 80s and 90s added waves of subdivisions toward the Gresham line. The oldest homes cluster near the original rail-town grid downtown. Those decades of construction come with familiar cleaning realities — textured ceilings that hold dust, original tile grout gone gray, oak trim and banisters that want real attention instead of a quick wipe, and vents that circulate whatever the east wind brings in.
Add the river. Glenn Otto's beach is one of the best things about summer here, and it means Sandy River sand in the car mats and across the mudroom floor from June through September, plus trail dust coming home from Gorge hikes all year. Homes here don't need anything exotic. They need window tracks and baseboards cleaned as a matter of routine, not sold back to you as an upsell.
What a clean looks like here
Most Troutdale families start with recurring cleaning on a weekly, every-two-weeks, or monthly rhythm, whatever fits the house and the season. First visits often begin with a deep clean to reset the baseline, especially in homes where the window tracks haven't been touched since the last east-wind season blew through. Leaving a rental or selling? Our move-out cleaning gets the place ready to hand over. And when a home has gone years without help, we quote it as restorative cleaning and give it the time it needs. We also handle vacation rental turnovers for hosts who put up Edgefield and Gorge visitors, plus commercial cleaning for offices and small storefronts.
Every clean runs on our written 50-Point Clean checklist, the same list every time, so nothing depends on memory or mood. Read it before we start. Check it after we finish.
The rest we keep simple. We come out for a free in-home estimate and walk the house with you. The number goes in writing, and the quote is the price — no surprises when the work is done. We bring all our own supplies. There are no contracts; we earn the next visit by how the last one went. Ready to start? Request your free estimate and we'll set up a time to come by.
Our Troutdale routes
We clean throughout Troutdale: the townhomes and single-family homes of Town Center, the 70s-to-90s ranches and split-levels of Beaver Creek, the streets around the historic downtown, and the subdivisions running west toward the Gresham line, where our own home base sits. That includes the blocks off the Columbia River Highway near Glenn Otto Park and the Halsey side near Edgefield. Up by the outlets on 257th counts too.
And because we're based in Gresham, there's no travel surcharge and no "we'll be in your area on Thursdays." Troutdale is our area. All week.
Common questions
Does the east wind actually make a difference inside a house?
It does. Troutdale sits right at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, so when the gap winds blow (hardest from late fall into winter) fine dust works into the window tracks and weatherstripping gaps and settles on flat surfaces faster than it does farther west in the metro. That's why window tracks and sills are standing items on our 50-Point Clean rather than add-ons, and baseboards get the same treatment.
We host a short-term rental for Gorge and Edgefield visitors. Can you handle turnovers?
Turnovers are what our vacation rental cleaning is set up for. The same family comes each time and works the same written checklist, so every guest walks into the same standard. Tell us your typical turnover window and we'll give you a straight answer on whether we can hit it.
Our house is a 1970s split-level in Beaver Creek that's never had a professional clean. Where would you start?
Usually with a deep clean, or restorative cleaning if it's been many years, to reset the baseline: grout, vents, textured-ceiling dust lines, window tracks, the works. After that, recurring visits keep it there. We'll walk the house with you at the free estimate and recommend the starting point that fits, rather than defaulting to the bigger job.
You're based in Gresham. Is Troutdale really in your normal area?
About as central as it gets. We're next door in Gresham and serve the east side from Portland out through the Gorge, so Troutdale sits in the middle of our map, not the edge. No travel surcharge, no limited days.
We're moving out of a Troutdale rental. Can you do the final clean before the walk-through?
We can. Move-out cleaning is one of our core services, quoted at a free walk-through or from photos and details if you're pressed for time, and the quote is the price. Tell us your hand-over date and we'll work backward from it.
