House Cleaning in Gresham, OR
Meadowlark is a family cleaning company based in Gresham, the one city on our map we never have to drive to. Jeremy, Marika, and their son Jonah clean every home themselves, and the first visit starts with a free in-home estimate.
Our home turf
Every other page on this site is a place we drive to. Gresham is the place we drive home to. We're Jeremy and Marika, and along with our son Jonah we run Meadowlark Home Cleaning out of our own house here. Book us and you're hiring neighbors, not a franchise crew dispatched from across the metro.
We know this city the way you only can by living in it. Historic Downtown feels like a small town that happens to sit inside Oregon's fourth-largest city: you can walk from the shops on Main Avenue down to Main City Park, past Tsuru Island's little Japanese garden, and roll straight onto the Springwater Corridor where it follows Johnson Creek toward Portland. That same walkability is why so many downtown-adjacent bungalows keep a permanent bike-and-muddy-shoe pile by the back door. We clean around real life like that without blinking.
We're not new to cleaning. The name is. After fifteen years of cleaning together, Meadowlark is us doing the work under our own family name, in our own town. You get a written 50-Point Clean checklist you can hold us to and the same three people at every single visit, and the quote you approve is the price you pay, with no surprises when the invoice comes. Cutting corners in our hometown would be the most expensive mistake we could make.
Boom-era housing and Gorge weather
Gresham grew fast, from under four thousand people in 1960 to over sixty-five thousand by 1990, and the housing shows it. Whole streets in Powell Valley and Southwest Gresham are ranches and split-levels from that boom. Textured ceilings hold dust. Thirty-year-old carpet holds everything else, and the half-landing in a split-level stairwell collects grime nobody thinks about. We know these layouts well, and we know where they hide dirt. Up on Gresham Butte, hillside homes sit under big firs that shed needles into every gutter line, deck board, and entryway from October to May. The newer construction pushing east toward Kelly Creek trades those problems for acres of white trim and tall entry windows that show every streak, plus open-plan kitchens where one greasy stovetop is visible from the entire first floor.
Then there's the weather. When the east wind funnels out of the Gorge in winter (the kind of blow that has pushed 50-plus mph gusts through Troutdale and Gresham) it drives grit under every door and window seal on the east face of your house. The other nine months are wet. In practice that means moss on the north side and Springwater mud tracked into the mudroom, and by February the windows have filmed over. A once-in-a-while wipe-down doesn't keep up here. A schedule does, which is why our recurring cleaning runs on weekly, biweekly, and monthly rhythms instead of one-off rescues.
How a first visit goes
It starts with a free in-home estimate. One of us walks your house with you, down to the split-level half-bath and the room you'd rather we skip, and you get a written quote on the spot. That quote is the price. No contracts, no lock-in. We bring all the supplies.
Most Gresham homes land on recurring cleaning, usually after a first-visit deep clean to reset the baseline. Every visit follows the 50-Point Clean, a written checklist we leave with you so "clean" isn't a matter of opinion. Moving out of a rental near Mt. Hood Community College, or selling a Powell Valley ranch you've owned since the eighties? That's move-out cleaning. When a house has gone years without real attention (an estate, say, or a place that got away from someone) we book it as restorative cleaning: a real scrub, no judgment. We also handle vacation rental turnovers and small-business commercial cleaning for shops and offices around downtown.
Because we're the owners and the cleaners, the people who quoted your house are the people scrubbing your tub. If something isn't right, you tell Jeremy or Marika directly — there's no office to route you through. Request your free estimate and we'll come take a look, usually within a few days since we're already in town.
Every corner of the city
All of it. This is home. We clean downtown-adjacent bungalows near Main City Park, ranches and split-levels across Powell Valley and Southwest Gresham, hillside homes on Gresham Butte, and the mix of old farmhouses and newer builds out in Kelly Creek. We take rentals and family homes around the Mt. Hood Community College campus on SE Stark, and Rockwood and the rest of west Gresham get the same service as everywhere else. If your address says Gresham, or sits just past the line in unincorporated Multnomah County, you're in our closest service area and you'll never pay for somebody's long drive.
Common questions
Why hire Meadowlark instead of one of the big cleaning chains?
Because the people you meet at the free in-home estimate are the people who clean the house: Jeremy, Marika, and our son Jonah, every visit. You get a written 50-Point Clean checklist to hold us to, and there's no contract, so if we don't earn the next visit you don't book it. We've spent fifteen years in this business. What's new is the family name on the door, and we intend to keep it good, starting in our own neighborhood.
I own a rental near Mt. Hood Community College. Do you handle tenant turnovers?
The blocks around the MHCC campus on SE Stark turn over on the school calendar, and our move-out cleaning matches that rhythm: a full top-to-bottom reset between tenants, with the 50-Point Clean as the written record of what was done. Own several units? Ask about a recurring turnover arrangement so you're not re-booking from scratch every term.
Our house is a 1970s split-level in Powell Valley. Is that a problem?
It's the opposite. Split-levels and ranches are most of what Gresham is made of, and they hide dirt in specific places: the half-landing on the stairs, and the lower-level family room that stays damp all winter. Railing spindles too, which nobody dusts. Those spots are on our checklist, not left to chance. And because the estimate happens in your home, we see the actual floor plan before quoting, so the price reflects your house rather than a generic square-footage table.
Winter here means east wind and nine months of mud. Can a cleaning schedule actually keep up?
It can, if it matches the house. Gorge wind in winter drives grit in around east-facing doors and windows, and the rest of the year the Springwater and the yard send a steady supply of mud through the entryway. Recurring visits, weekly or biweekly for most Gresham homes, keep the entry zones and window sills from ever building up to a spring-rescue situation. We bring the supplies. Nothing for you to stock.
Do you clean homes just outside Gresham city limits, like out past Kelly Creek or toward Orient?
Yes. Homes east and south of the city line, in the unincorporated stretches of Multnomah County past Powell Valley and Kelly Creek, are minutes from our home base, and we serve them the same as any Gresham address. Our whole service area runs east of the Willamette from Portland's east side through the Gorge. Anywhere near Gresham is near us. The free in-home estimate works the same way: we come out and quote the house on the spot.
